Theme, graphics and soundtrack
If you aren’t consistently bad tempered, you cannot fail to find the visuals and sound of Funky Fruits at least slightly funny. It transports us to a beach facing the open sea, with a surfboard on one side and a highball glass on the other. The reels are resting on an overturned wooden crate, which seemed to be quite clever for us. The fruits have been made into anthropomorphic characters that might remind older fans of the fridge in TV’s The Young Ones. These fruits dive and screech as they spin through the reels. While waiting between spins they make exclamations, cries, giggles and even blow plum kisses some of them do. All very silly, but it is good bright fun filled with colour.

Funky Fruits review: our verdict
This game is not complicated at all. Press the play button and hope for the best. The only difference is the jackpot option, but in terms of basic gameplay, when one gets bored with graphics there might be no reason to keep playing. We liked the avalanche feature too, so that whenever you won, symbols that matched would burst and others fall down to take their place until no more combinations are formed. It’s something to consider if you have time on your hands.

FAQ
What is the RTP and variance of Funky Fruits?
The RTP is 92.98, which is a low average for an online slot. However, when you take into account the jackpot, then it rises to 93.98 per cent which still remains low. Unknown variance or volatility.
What does RTP actually mean?
The abbreviation RTP stands for Return to Player. The figures in each game represent the average amount a player would expect to be returned to them. Nonetheless, the mean is calculated across all win levels. Consequently, no single RTP ever exceeds 100%, which means that constant small losses of players are always greater than exceptional big wins. On average, an ordinary gambler will always receive less money than he/she had staked.
What does variance mean?
Variance or volatility is a term that is applicable in games like poker and slots where it measures the size and frequency of payouts. High-variance games have large but few payments while low-variance games make small returns more frequently.
